Classical Montessori Educational Philosophy
Individualized Care and Instruction
Cyprus Classical Montessori Preschool makes it a priority to understand the unique person that your child is. We have developed a proprietary system to assess each child’s social/emotional development, academic abilities, learning style, and needs. We then create an individualized plan with specific goals in various areas of your child’s development. We keep the lines of communication open with parents so that all are working together to nurture each child. Our unique school employs the Classical model of education with the Montessori Method, both effective for individualized early education.
Classical Education
A Classical education is rich in exposure to History, Language, Science, Mathematics and the Arts. Cyprus Classical Montessori teaches children the foundations for all of these subjects. This type of education relies heavily on language, so children will be exposed to wonderful literature on a regular basis. They will also experience history, science, mathematics, and the arts through playing, singing, art, literature and hands-on activities, all suited for their ages, abilities, and learning styles.
The Montessori Method
The Montessori Method of education is both a philosophy of child development and a rationale for guiding children's growth. It is based on the child's developmental needs for freedom within limits and a carefully prepared environment which guarantees exposure to materials and experiences. Through this, the child develops intelligence as well as physical and psychological abilities. It is designed to take full advantage of the child's desire to learn and their unique ability to develop their own capabilities. Children need adults to expose them to the possibilities of life, but each child must determine their own response to those possibilities.
The main premises of Montessori education are:-Children are to be respected as different from adults and as individuals who differ from each other.
The high level of academic achievement so common in Montessori schools is a natural outcome of experience in such a supportive environment. The Montessori method of education is a model which serves the needs of children of all levels of mental and physical ability as they live and learn in a natural, mixed-age group which is very much like the society they will live in as adults.
How will a Classical Montessori student learn?
The preschool years are meant for exposure to the many interesting aspects of our world and for exploration. Using the Montessori Method with hands-on activities will help children discover our world independently. Group learning times will focus on listening to language through the reading of quality books, learning about and memorization of information pertaining to all subjects, learning to read with phonics and building a foundation for mathematics using a multi-sensory, Montessori-based curriculum.
Our preschool program also includes instruction in Music, Art, Science, Foreign Language, Movement, and ability-based academic classes in math and language for older preschoolers.

- Each child possesses an unusual sensitivity and intellectual ability to absorb and learn from his environment that are unlike those of the adult both in quality and capacity.
- The most important years of a child's growth are the first six years of life when unconscious learning is gradually brought to the conscious level.
- Children have a deep love and need for purposeful work. They work, however, not as an adult for completion of a job, but the sake of an activity itself. It is this activity which enables them to accomplish their most important goal: the development of themselves - their mental, physical, and psychological powers.
